History in the Making

OK, so I admit I was skeptical. And I was one of them cynics who said it wouldn't happen, for so many reasons.

Well - I don't remember when I was so happy to be wrong!

I voted for Obama in the primaries, but felt McCain was the stronger presidential candidate. However, I now feel a McCain election would have caused an initial backlash, people losing trust in the system. Besides, it's McCain's fault for not sticking up for himself more over the last eight years. I understand wanting to show some unity behind who's in charge, but he really sunk his ship by abandoning the McCain of yesteryear. And then Palin. Don't get me started on that. Look, I agree with very little that Obama stands for, but there's one thing I can not disagree with, and that's the refound enthusiasm a lot of people were given in their country tonight. And to me, that is irreplacable. Once again, many are reminded that America is the land of opportunity. If nothing else, an Obama victory has gifted us three months of optimism. I will take that.

The voting booth problems were my biggest concern, and I was very skeptical too. Whew!

You and 55,543,823 others!!

Still thank goodness he won – I’m delighted.
