A Thousand Words - And Then Some #3
Hanukka, first evening.
The JohnnyB enthusiastically lights the first candle, according to the way it was meant to be done.
But then, he proves he has not quite assimilated the concept of
As 'RIK wisely diagnosed:
"John's irreverence is just one of the things that makes him so endearing...".
Whichever light you are celebrating:
HAPPY FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Hooray for wikipedia!
I've only recently "deconverted" out of christianity, and now have a tendency to cast a jaundiced eye on religion. Judaism tho' (as far as I am aware) hasn't gone in for jumping up and down demanding that everyone acknowledge the OT & Talmud as the inspired and inerreant word of god. I've also always liked the way Jewish ritual gets integrated into family life, the hanukkah lights, pesach cups etc.

Oh, well, Stew..... I have pretty much "deconverted" out of Judaism many years ago. Not into another religion (Nooooooooo... one is more than enough), but pretty much out of organized religion.
Still, there are a some beautiful things about tradition, so The JohnnyB and I pretty much combine our two worlds.
Excellent point, Rhonda!
Yes, well, it's nameless. Still.
It's all decorated and lit and fun, but shamelessly nameless.
How negligent we are...
Hence the lack of posting its picture... We'll try to name it by Christmas!
Any suggestions?
Call it "Etz" or "Ilan" or "Ashuach" or "Edder", either way - it will never answer... or come calling back... TamirB
